Disc Problems, Extra Firm Simmons Black Mattress & Latex Foam Topper.

I am looking for a new mattress set. We had an air mattress and it was bothering my husband's back. I came upon your website and have been reading and searching for information. I am looking at the Beautyrest Black Ava Luxury Firm but nobody around here sells that. The closest thing I found was the Beautyrest Black Hope and it is quite a bit more. From what I read, it is a waste of money to buy the top of the line. My husband's back issues are that he will need to have multiple lower discs fused in the future. The Ava will not feel the same. And, you wouldn't want it to.
The Hope is much too soft for a man with that sort of back problem.
What you don't seem to understand is that the extra softness and initial comfort of the Hope will not last long. Mattresses are made to sell, not last. If you base your decision on the initial comfort of the mattress, you'll know that you've made a mistake in a very short time.
The Ava in luxury firm is the softest you should consider. If he is a large man, exceeding 200 lbs., then you should be getting the Alexia...the appropriate choice for a large man with disc problems.
With either, you can further soften the surface with a layer of latex foam.
Latex is far more resilient than the foams that are used in the mattresses. It will soften the surface without losing its shape, support, or comfort...and without sacrificing the underlying firm support that his back needs.
