Sealy Beachside latex foam mattress,

Andrea writes:

Hi Pete,
We bought a Sealy Beachside latex foam mattress set from you several years ago, but now it's too soft for us. My husband and I (we're both small people) feel fine when we sleep on a hard-as-a-rock futon, but we both have lower back pain when we sleep on the latex. Our 2 questions:  does the Beachside have deeper layers that are firmer, and how can we get to those firmer layers?  We don't mind splitting the mattress open and cutting things apart. I figure if we get it too firm, we could just put a separate topper on it.
Thanks much, Andrea

Hi Andrea,
There is a total of 2" of poly foam on the top of that mattress...which will be the first thing to fail.
Under that is a layer of medium-soft latex and under that is a firm latex core.
There's no need to perform surgery...which never goes well.
Simply flip it over and you'll find the underside to be considerably firmer and perfectly usable.
If it does turn out to be too firm, all you need do is add a 2" layer of latex foam to make the surface more comfortable.
Here is the link to the toppers.
