Simmons Beautyrest Mattress Recommendation.

Pete writes:

Good morning, my name is Pete. We were referred to your website by a friend who highly recommended you. We are in the process of upgrading our bedding from queen to king and need help. Some things about us are: we are both primarily side sleepers, my wife has back arthritis, and we tend to shop Simmons Beautyrest because of reputation and price, and we have been looking at tight top firms and don't normally look at pillowtops.
My wife liked a Sterns and Foster Point-du-Lac but that wasn't sleeping on it for 8 hours. Pricey at $2600. Also last January at a resort in CA well slept on a Sterns and Foster Tivoli Elegance Luxury Plush. Believe it was a pillow top and we were so tired at days end it might not have mattered what we were sleeping on, but it was comfortable. We have looked at several at Macy's, again primarily Simmons Beautyrest.
So we are asking for your recommendations. We are wanting to stay around the $2000 range.
I am 6'1", 215 lbs. and my wife is 5'6", 165 lbs. No other medical issues to date.
Thanks, Pete

Hi Pete,
Good. The mattress I had in mind will work fine and is in your price range.
Mattresses, today, are sold by appealing to your sense of comfort. In fact, more to your sense of luxury....unlike the old days, when a mattress was thought of as a utilitarian item, always on the firm side, and lasted 10-20 years.
These luxurious feeling mattresses of today are made to seduce you into buying. Unlike the old days, they begin to lose their comfort and support with months and need to be replaced within only a few years, at best.

There are 3 types of foams available in the mattress industry. Memory foam and polyurethane foam are the two least expensive and the primary materials used in most of today's mattresses.
They are relied upon for the comfort you felt when trying mattresses at stores....and it's these foams that will fail quickly.
The diabolical part is that they return to their original shape, (or close enough to it), that you will unlikely prevail in a warranty claim.
The third type of foam is latex. Unlike the chemical soup from which the others are made, latex is natural...the sap from the rubber tree. It is the original foam rubber that was introduced in the 1920s and has been the most comfortable and durable material for the past 90 years.
Latex, being of such high quality, is rarely used in today's mattresses. When you do see it in the specifications, very little is used and it's there to enhance the sales pitch.

What I'm recommending to you will provide proper spinal support, plenty of surface comfort, and will last you 10 years.
The Simmons Beautyrest World Class Annapolis Place in Luxury Firm is the starting model in the World Class Series.
It provides firm yet contouring support and will maintain the natural alignment of your spine. It does not have the surface comfort of the ones you tried and need for your wife's arthritis.
To soften the surface of this mattress, you will add a 2" layer of soft all-natural Talalay Latex foam mattress Topper.
The latex is extremely resilient and will absorb much of your body weight. The side benefit it provides, is in doubling the life of the mattress you use with it, as it simply does not work as hard as it would without it. This combination sleep system is the common sense approach to getting around the mattress industry's attempt at sell you a mattress much more frequently than they had been when they were still making good quality products.
A Beautyrest with this same topper is what my wife and I sleep on at home. Our latex topper is now 5 years old and still like new. No other foam offers that type of performance.
The mattress set runs $1799.00 and the topper is $400.
White Glove Delivery, including removal of the old mattress, is free...and, there is no sales tax.

Here are the links to those products, where you can view the specifications. If you wish to order them, you will need to call me to do so.
