Ever-Eden Latex Mattress for the Guest Room.

Your friend is correct. The Ever-Eden ships UPS, which keeps the cost down dramatically.
In fact, we have their 8" model in our guest room, on a platform bed. Ever-Eden also has a UPS-able foundation for their mattresses.
Their lest expensive model is a 6" all-natural Dunlop latex, which is on the firm side.
The 8" model is the same core, topped with 2" of soft Talalay Latex.
There is also a 9" model, which has 3" of soft latex. 
All of their mattresses come encased in an organic cotton cover that unzips for easy laundering.
However, it's easier to use a waterproof mattress protector, which you would use on any mattress.
All-Natural latex is finest material available and has been since the 1920s. Your guest will be plenty comfy and well supported.
What's more, you are looking at a one-time purchase. These mattresses are good for 20 years in a master bedroom and will last a lifetime in a guest room.
