A mattress for spinal support and fibromyalgia.

Belinda writes:

I am a single female with fibromyalgia. I had C4-5 spinal surgery several years ago and am a right side sleeper, using a buckwheat hull pillow. Could you please recommend a starting point for me? My current mattress is 10-years old and I use an electric mattress pad and down topper. I want to stay under $1000 and want a queen-sized mattress and foundation.
Thanks very much, Belinda

Hi Belinda,
You have two problems...an interior, spinal problem that requires firm support...and an external problem that requires a soft surface feel.
There is not a mattress alone that will be soft enough for your fibromyalgia that won't create back pain for you.
In order to address these two opposing conditions, you will need two different products. You must start with a reasonably firm mattress for support of your spine. Add to that a layer of soft Talalay Latex, which provides surface comfort that lasts. All-Natural Latex is extremely comfortable and equally resilient...far superior to the poly and memory foams that are commonly used.
Working within your price restriction and still providing the support and comfort you need, I'm including links the the Simmons Beautyrest Lumberton luxury firm mattress, which provides excellent support and is very reasonably priced....and the the Talalay Latex toppers, of which a 2" or 3" soft model will lessen the pain of your fibro.
