Twin mattress for our 9 year old son.

Louise writes:

We are trying to buy a twin mattress for our 9 year old son -- we have been
to 2 mattress stores and Sears -- and everyone is telling us something
different.
Why does it have to be so hard to buy a mattress?
We are looking for something that will last until he goes away to college.
We are looking for something to go on top of his bunky board so we don't
need a box spring.
We are looking for a firm mattress with a soft top....
We are not looking to spend thousands of dollars... but don't want a cheap
mattress that won't last either.
What is the best value for our money
that will give my son a good night's sleep?
Thank you so much for your help. Louise

Hi Louise,
It doesn't need to be difficult, or expensive.
What we recommend is the Simmons Beautyrest. The individually pocketed coils provide contouring support that will maintain your child's natural spinal alignment and will continue to do so throughout their growing years. The Classic models are very well made and ideal for a child, both in quality and value.
The starting model "Lumberton" luxury firm is a little stiff at the surface. The next model up, the "Flatbrook", also in luxury firm, is equally as firm inside, but has a more comfortable sleeping surface. It would be this model that fits the requirements that you have stipulated.
Here is a link to that mattress. You will notice a "mattress Only" price. Delivery is free and there's no sales tax.
