Sealy Pillowtop Latex Mattress, from a waterbed.

TERRIFIC site, thank you!
Trying to find a compromise for me and my lovely lady. I have back issues and have had surgery. Also tend to get sore shoulder on certain beds as I am a side sleeper. My lady is coming from 18 years on a waterbed and loves soft, cushy mattresses. We think we have found one, but want your opinion. It's Sealy Pillow Top Latex has no coils....does that make a difference in performance or durability? Any other issues we should be aware of with "no coil" beds in general or this one specifically? Do they have any issues related to the ability to regulate temperature like a normal bed? Thanks in advance! Alex

Hi Alex,
There'a a whole lot more to it than comparing coiled mattresses to foam mattresses. There are plenty of differences among each type.
Also, there are many stores that sell latex hybrid mattresses as all latex. Check the white 'law' label, which is sewn into the edge at the head of the bed. It will list, by percentage, the materials used in that mattress. I'd be willing to bet that mattress will have about 25% latex. The rest will be poly foam.
Another factor is the pillowtop. It's an attached pillowtop and pillowtops fail in very short order. It won't matter that the rest of the mattress is ok, because the pillowtop can not be removed.
Read a little about pillowtops on our blog. http://themattressexpert.wordpress.com/category/pillowtop/
So, while I'm sure that mattress has a wonderful feel, it won't keep that feel for long. You're assuming quality that isn't there.
Not to mention that you are over compromising. I realize you want to please your lady, but your back simply won't tolerate a mattress that soft.
An all latex mattress is much higher quality, providing much greater longevity and ends up being a whole lot better value.
An all latex mattress will come as close in feel to a waterbed than an innerspring. Although, the individually pocketed coils of the Simmons Beautyrests, come close. Also an excellent value is a luxury firm Beautyrest with a soft Talalay Latex mattress topper. This will do a much better job that the pillowtop...be more comfortable and last for many years. This choice is the Simmons Beautyrest/latex topper combination, as a more economical alternative to an all latex mattress.
We carry three brands of all latex mattresses, shown here:  http://themattressexpert.com/mattress-brands/
The Simmons Beautyrest World Class models are on sale through May 29th....a Free Boxspring Sale, where you will get the whole set for the price of the mattress only.
Here are links to that World Class Annapolis Place luxury firm...and to the latex toppers. Delivery is free and there's no sales tax.
