Looking for recommendations for king mattress and box spring. I weigh 330 lbs. and my wife 250 lbs. We are in our late 50's and wife has had both hips and knees replaced.
When we go into a store to look at mattresses and explain our "situation", the sales people have no clue! We have numerous furniture stores and mattress stores to choose from but none seem to be knowledgeable when you start asking questions.
We currently have a fairly expensive ($1,500), pillow-top, mattress with coils. It's just over 5 years old and I've been experiencing more and more sore backs, shoulders, hips, etc. and don't sleep very well. My wife sleeps even worse!
What do you recommend? Spring or foam? What type of foam? Any particular brand or model?

I know mattresses won't last 10-15 years for large people but I should be able to expect 8-10 years!

Hi Dennis,
Pillowtops are a bad choice at any weight. They simply do not keep their shape or comfort for very long.
Any firm mattress that you add a soft layer of latex to, will provide the support you need with the comfort you want.
Latex is much more resilient than any other type of foam and is the key to having comfort that lasts.
