Simmons Beautyrest World Class Plush Mattress

Heather writes:

Hi!  My husband and I are looking for a new mattress.  We are both relatively thin (though he is tall 6'4") and though I have mild hip pain that comes and goes, otherwise we have no back/hip problems.  We are looking to spend between $1200-$1800 and are considering a plush.  Thus far we have considered the Simmons Beautyrest World Class in plush.  What do you recommend for best quality and comfort?

Thanks, Heather

Hi Heather,If shopping for a "plush" mattress, you don't want a Beautyrest. Their plush models use a much thinner gauge wire to create a greater depth of softness. This also translates into a very short lived product. A Beautyrest must be purchased as a luxury firm. The luxury firm option gives you the same softer padding at the surface, but uses a much heavier gauge wire for better support and longevity. If soft is what you're after, add a 2" soft Talalay latex topper, which will give you all the comfort you want and last for many years. A latex topper more than pays for itself, as it also adds years more life to the mattress. Latex, besides being extraordinarily comfortable, is also extremely resilient. It will absorb much of your body weight, leaving less work for the mattress. Here are links to my favorite Beautyrest for support and value...and also to the the latex toppers.
