I'm 6 feet tall, 200 lbs., athletic build, no health problems. Can you recommend a couple options for me? If money was not an issue, what would you suggest is the best quality set available? Could you suggest a second model that in your opinion presents the best balance of quality and cost? Why do you like these models?
Thanks, Joe.
Hi Joe,The very best has been all natural latex, for the past 85 years. The best of the innersprings continually changes. Right now, that would be the Simmons Beautyrest Black in any of the firm or plush/firm models, (without a pillowtop).Today's pillowtops wear quickly, regardless of brand, so you'll want to avoid them.Quality is rarely equal to the more money you spend. A "Best Mattress", in my opinion, is one that does a good job of supporting your body and providing comfort that relieves pressure point, relieves blood flow, and relaxes the muscles...which in turn, provide a deep, restorative night's sleep....and doesn't wear out long before the warranty is up. You walk into any mattress store and tell the salesman you're looking for the best mattress and that money is no object, and you come away with a very comfortable, very expensive high end bed that will not last more than a year or two. It would be best for you to keep that information to yourself. The best is often the best buy, is a lesser expensive, good quality, basic innerspring mattress with a latex topper added for comfort that lasts. My wife and I have slept on latex mattresses for years. About a year and a half ago, we decided to try a Simmons Beautyrest Black Ansleigh model. My wife prefers a more luxurious feel, so we've added a soft latex topper to that. With us at 230 ans 220, everything still looks and feels the same as when it was new.The more basic mattress with a latex topper combination, has been the most popular for some years now. It provides good firm support and comfortable sleeping surface that lasts...an excellent way around the longevity issues of today's one sided mattresses....without spending a ton of money. However, if a ton of money is what you have to spend, there is a "best" place to spend it.An all latex mattress has been "the best you can" buy for almost 90 years. Pure LatexBLISS has been the premier manufacturer of state of the art, Talalay Latex for more than 60 years. These, would be the "Best Mattresses" with money not being an issue. The Pamper model is the firmest of them, although not a hard mattress. They get a little softer with each model up. In my opinion, the Beautiful model is as luxurious as anyone could want, but still providing good support. The most expensive "World's Best Bed" model is "Too Soft"....crossing that imaginary line of diminishing return for the money spent.
