Hi,
I really need your help. My husband was disabled 8 years ago, resulting in a 9 disc fusion in his back and is in constant pain. We have gone thru several beds at this point (thousands of dollars!) and can't really afford another. Currently, we are sleeping on a two-year old tempurpedic that is a piece of junk. I wish we had never bought the thing. It is hot, saggy and is now starting to hurt my back and hips also. We have also discovered that we are chemically sensitive to it. I have read that it is pointless to try and get your money back from the company.
Can you recommend an innerspring that is inexpensive, firm and made in the USA (less chemicals)? I can't seem to wrap my brain around all the purposefully confusing tactics that mattress companies use....
BTW, hubby is 250 lbs...not gonna tell you my weight. :)
Thanks so much! Leslie

Hi Leslie,
The problem you are having, is with the memory foam in your mattress. I do have a low cost solution for you.
Remove the cover from your mattress. Inside, you will find a layer of memory foam atop a thicker layer of firm poly foam.
Measure the thickness of the memory foam and order a layer of latex to replace it.
discard the memory foam, add the latex and replace the cover.
Latex is nothing like memory foam. It's comfortable, supportive and plenty resilient. It's all natural with no chemicals to off gas.
It's available in soft, medium and firm. I would suggest the "medium" feel for your husband's back situation.
If your mattress is a king, you can order the medium for him in a twin XL and a "soft" layer for your half, also in the twin XL.
They will stay put and are maintenance free.
Normally, for people in your situation, it's enough to simply flip the mattress over and add the latex. In your case, the memory foam is making you sick. So, it has to go. This solution is a long term one and a whole lot less expensive than a new mattress.
Here's a link to the latex. you can order on line. Delivery is free and there's no sales tax.
