I'm surprised to hear about the Manhattan model. It was quite firm and one of the strongest mattresses in S&F's line at the time.
Have you tried initiating a manufacturer's warranty claim through your retailer? You might be able to get an exchange.
The Cameo model is very durable. Being able to flip it and use both sides is helpful to having it keep its shape over the years.
The Cameo was engineered by me and is made by the Therapedic plant in NJ. It has been available for 2 years and was test marketed under some of the heaviest people I could find...my in-laws...confident that doing so would not come back to bite me. So far, so good. They use, what had been, the Sealy Posturepedic coil unit. They have no memory foam and the materials used are the highest density available.
I'm happy to say that the Cameo is a good choice, if you're willing to flip it regularly. The flipping isn't easy. It takes two people. The extra work in caring for it results in greater longevity...just like the old days, assuming you're old enough to remember the old days.
