What's the best mattress for Herniated Disc Neck Pain? Simmons Beautyrest Black Ansleigh in plush/firm

Hi Peter,
My husband has a herniated disc in his neck. Our mattress is old and I definitely think it is causing his neck pain to be worse. He's 6' and around 175 lbs. What's the best mattress to buy? Should it be firm? Is the pillow important too?
Thank you so much! Best, Marie

Hi Marie,
The "best" mattress is the one I have at home. It's the best mattress I've had in a long time.

Here's a link to that mattress.

Your husband will also need a couple of new pillows. "New" pillows is something he should get regularly. As soon as he feels they've worn and his neck starts to hurt, get new ones.
Also, if he can reduce stress, that would be helpful. The first place you feel the pain of stress, is in your neck...like adding insult to injury. We carry latex pillows that don't ever seem to wear out.

Thanks, Pete
