We were disappointed when we bought a Nectar memory foam mattress. 

We shopped at a couple of stores and have decided that we want either the Stearns and Foster Estate ultra firm, or the Beautyrest Pressuresmart 2.0 extra firm. 

I’ve ended up going down the reddit rabbit hole which is where I found you. 

I learned that these brands are likely expensive garbage. 

Do you have a mattress recommendation that meets the firmness we need that isn’t going to fall apart in a year?

Indeed, we do!
What the name brands all have in common, is the memory foam upholstery. 
Memory foam is temperature sensitive. It softens as it warms from reacting to your body’s heat.
This was the source of your dissapointment.
Of all the foams, Natural Latex Foam Rubber is and has been the best, most resilient foam ever used in a mattress…for the last 100 years.
The firmest mattress I have, is also the strongest…the one I recommend for people carrying an extraordinary amount of body weight.
My wife and I sleep on the ultra-plush version, from the same line of mattresses.
Ours is 9 years old and still in great condition, despite each of us weighing 200+.
The firm version is extremely so. It’s not just firm, is downright hard.
It may be firmer than you’re expecting.
On a positive note, it’s easy to soften the surface of a too firm mattress.
You might also consider the Luxury Firm or even the Plush model…especially if there’s a female involved, due to their common hip sensitivity.
