Natura of Canada Greenspring Ultra Plush Mattress.

Good Morning Pete,

You recommended to me the Natura of Canada Greenspring Ultra Plush Mattress.

You describe latex foam in some of the upholstery layers of this mattress.
Is that not the same as memory foam?
I take a lot of info in and take all decisions very seriously so I do my best at making the best decision.
And buying a mattress, I am trying really hard to make a very good and very informed decision.
Does this mattress have a "pillow top" or is there a latex topper that you recommend instead?
It seems I remember reading something about that.
Can you get the adjustable base to go with this mattress in a king?
It makes me very, very nervous to be buying from you, so it would definitely be a leap of faith.
I am taking all this info in and trying to make that decision.
We are here in NC, so no chance of being able to try this personally?
Thanks, Dana
Good Morning Dana,
There are 3 types of foam.
Memory foam is the newest, 22 years, and was specifically designed to cause a mattress to need frequent replacing.
It consists of 61 different chemicals, some of which are highly toxic.
It off gasses those toxic chemicals, making it a health hazard on top of being a poor quality product.
It’s the only temperature sensitive material, which reacts to your body heat.
It softens as it warms from your body heat and allows you to sink into it.
It reflects your body heat, causing it to sleep hot.
The truly diabolical thing about memory foam is that even after it loses the little resiliency it had to begin with, and you’re sinking too far into it, it’ll return to its original shape when you get out of bed…or close enough to it that you’ll not be able to get an exchange under the terms of the warranty.
Memory foam enhances profits. This is why the industry spends so much time, energy and money promoting it.
Memory foam is, by far, the worst upholstery material ever invented.
Your current mattress has no memory foam in it.
Prior to the advent of memory foam, Simmons used polyurethane foam, mostly, with some models having a little latex.
Polyurethane foam was invented in the late 1960s, and was the primary foam used until about 10 years ago.
Polyurethane foam is a petrochemical based product.
It’s cured before being used in a mattress, which is why it doesn’t off gas.
Latex is a natural product, discovered in the 1880s and first introduced as a mattress in the 1920s.
Latex has always been the best upholstery material ever, and the most expensive to produce.
It’s the most resilient and longest lasting.
Soft latex produces the feeling that you’re floating…quite unique in its feel.
The Natura of Canada Greenspring Ultra Plush Mattress is not a pillowtop.
It’s comfy enough for 90% of the people who buy it.
10% go on to add a softer latex topper.
I recommend waiting until you’ve slept on it for a week before deciding if adding a latex topper is needed.
The latex toppers we sell are pure latex…the best on the planet.
Cheaper latex, made in China, is readily available on the internet.
The Chinese add clay to the mix while processing.
This makes the latex cheaper to make and buy. It also has a short lifespan, which ends up making it much more expensive to keep replacing.
Pure latex lasts for many years.

A google search for that mattress will tell you if there are any stores in your area that carry it.
Frankly, you’re not likely to find such a high quality mattress in stores.
Most retail stores have jumped on the memory foam band wagon for the high profits margins and repeat business it produces.
The mattress I recommended uses only natural materials.
Even the small amount of polyurethane foam is plant based, not chemical based.
Thanks, Pete
VERY IMPORTANT:
Keeping your mattress clean and dry will increase its longevity.
We recommend our Organic Cotton Waterproof Mattress Protector.
