Sleeping in a hole on our 1 year old Sealy Pillowtop mattress.

John writes:

Hi Pete,

My wife and I are shopping for a new mattress.
I'm tired of sleeping in a hole on our Sealy Pillowtop mattress, that we got only a year ago.
I am 6'1", 250 lbs. My wife is much smaller, but has a hole on her side too.
We plan on getting something firmer to avoid all this.
But when we check reviews for the Serta and Simmons mattresses, we tried, everyone says they only last about 3 years.
Is this what I can expect from mattresses today?
Are there any better alternatives?
Thanks, John

Hi John,
That's what you can expect from all the, so called, name brands that you could once trust to make a quality mattress.
What changed?
They were all sold to investors who use memory foam, which causes a mattress to need frequent replacing.
3 years is all you can expect at average body weight. For a man your size, about a year from anything they make.

There is an alternative.
My wife and I are over 200 lbs., each.
Our current mattress is almost 5 years old and, still, in like new condition.
The difference?...a stronger coil system and latex upholstery...with NO Memory Foam.
Of course, it isn't made by any of those name brands that have gone bad.
And, you don't have to substitute comfort for longevity.
We have the Natura of Canada Greenspring Ultra Plush, which is what I'm recommending for you and your wife.
