Hi Craig,
The 3" tends to create too great a depth of softness.
For average and above average weight people, they sink too far at the hip, throwing off the spine's natural alignment and causing back pain.
It seems that the only people the 3" soft latex topper works for, are people who are small...and not exerting much pressure against the topper.
