Just came across your website. My husband and I are desperate to find a modern version of a stearns and foster mattress purchased in 2000. I understand mattress names are changed every year or so, so the odds of finding that same mattress today seem near impossible.
We just slept in our basement guest room (on the above mattress) to be safe from Hurricane Sandy, and woke up with no shoulder or back pain. Our bedroom mattress is much firmer and is causing pain, despite the fact that we have a very thick foam topper (which we just added as a last ditch effort to get a good night's sleep).
The tag on our 2000 stearns and foster says the following:
2000 5/18 1599 DOM COLWORTH PL 99
I know I purchased in 2000, I think manufacture date is May 18, 2000. Style name is Colworth and PL is likely plush? But what does the rest mean? I think I remember that it was a firm mattress with a plush top...but not 100%. How can I find a the same mattress in stores or your website today? Everyone who sleeps on our guest bed raves about the comfort and the quality of their sleep.

What mattress would you recommend to replace a S & F Colworth PL purchased in 2/10/02? I LOVE this mattress, but it's 16 years old and time to replace.

ReplyDeleteIt was late in the year, 2003, when S&F mattresses went one sided, so yours must be two-sided and flippable.
Also, the coil unit at that time, was the Bonnell....the large heavy coils that they had used since the 1920s.
Since answering the post you mentioned, we have been able to closely match your bed.
Wolf makes a similar mattress...using the same bonell coil unit and upholstered with similar poly foam used in your S&F.
S&F was established in 1846. The Wolf Company was established in 1872. A single facility manufacturer, operating out of a Midwest plant, Wolf is family owned and operated.
Of the 3 two-sided Flippable models they make, the Brooklyn Plush is what I would recommend.
