Simmons Beautyrest Lumberton & Latex Topper for Good Quality on a Budget

Hi Pete,
Thanks for your help. You seem to be a beacon of hope in a sea of misinformation.
My boyfriend (6ft, 250lbs) and I (5'7", 185lbs) are buying our first new mattress. We definitely prefer firmer models; anything pillow top seems too squishy. We're obviously hoping for quality and longevity, but price is a factor. I'd love to get something for around $500-$1000, but if an inexpensive bed is going to self destruct, we can spend more.
Right now I'm leaning toward the Simmons Beautyrest Lumberton Luxury Firm. Is that a good choice given our sizes and budget? Would you recommend something else?
Thanks, Sarah

Hi Sarah,
To maximize the dollars you spend, you'll need a latex topper for the mattress.
The latex will absorb much of your body weight, adding years of life to whatever mattress you buy.
Mattresses today are not made to last, even under average weight....and, it doesn't matter how much you spend.

Here are links to that mattress and the topper that, together, will do the job and keep you close to your price range.
The Lumberton with a latex topper will keep you in your price range and do a fine job of providing support and comfort over the years.

Go with a 2" Dunlop for added durability and to maintain the firm feel you're looking for.
