A Flippable, Two-Sided Mattress...like, "The Good Old Days"

After 40 years of marriage, and several mattresses, my husband and I are longing for the 1st mattress we had. He says it was made of 'cotton', no springs, foam, etc. I'm thinking it did have 'coils' We flipped it and turned it and it lasted a long time. Can you advise us what we should be looking for now?

For support and comfort that lasts, buy a firm mattress and add a latex topperto it.
