Latex Foam Mattress and Topper Allergies, Both Topical and Airborne.

HT writes:

Hi Pete,
I see you repeatedly answering this question the same way about latex allergies.
I am anaphylactic allergic to latex and I want you to know that unequivocally latex particles can get airborne.
I have almost died several times never having touched latex but inhaled particles.
I also unknowingly slept on a latex mattress once in a hotel on an island.
It was a 911 emergency with every available medical professional on the island pouring out of their vehicles in street clothes.
So yes, someone with a severe latex allergy can and will react to a latex mattress and furthermore, latex particles can be airborne.
I can not walk into a store that sells tires or cheap tennis shoes because of airborne particles.
Please go back and edit all these answers before you put someone's life in danger.

Thank you, for your input, HT.
Clearly, you should never buy a mattress containing latex.

In the 40+ years, I've been doing this, I've met two people who were so allergic to polyurethane foam...
...as to not being able to have any upholstery in the house...carpet padding, chair cushions, nothing...despite polyurethane being hypo-allergenic.

You are the first of your kind, that I've met, in all these years.
Latex foam rubber, like polyurethane foam, is also hypo-allergenic.
For the vast majority of people who have a latex allergy, that allergy manifests itself topically...not airborne.
Your particular set of circumstances are extraordinarily rare.
Anyone, who may be sharing your degree of allergic reaction, would already know to avoid latex in any form.
Nothing I say about it, would change that.

Our blog and the advice given are for the masses...and not so much for the one in a million, such as yourself.
Even so, we can and do address those rare conditions...such as yours.
There is a latex foam, "Vytex Dunlop", where the very small amount of remaining protein, left by the original Dunlop process, is removed....rendering it, virtually, allergen free.
This latex is available in mattress and topper forms.

I can have the factory mail you a sample to test.
