My husband has a ruptured disc but the symptoms are maintainable. We are both plus size people, and have had a bad air mattress for the past 2 years.
We don't get a good nights sleep and wake feeling horrible. We like a firm style, king sized. What would you recommend? Does latex work, even with a ruptured disk?
Given the severity of the disc problem and the extra weight he carries, latex would not be the type of mattress I would recommend.
Despite the fact that latex is the best of all the foams, any all foam mattress would likely be a painful mistake.
There are no 'good' air mattresses, as they do not provide proper, upward support for anyone's spine...and a pure disaster for anyone already suffering with a bad back.
Air, like water beds, rely on displacement. The hammock type of support you get from it is just flat out bad for you.
You really need to go with an interlocked coil unit for the right support for him. You need to avoid the things that wear quickly, specifically, pillowtops and memory foam.
I'm including a link to the mattress we sleep on, at home. We, too, are plus size...and I have lots of disc related back problems.
I can tell you from experience, The Natura of Canada Greenspring mattress are very high quality and ideal for your set of circumstances.
There are 5 models in the line, with the Plush Eurotop being the most comfortable of them.
