Greetings PeteHere we are again, shopping for a mattress because we just bought a split king adjustable s-cape base so my wife can elevate her head, but it us hard on my back! Currently we have a king one piece sealy latex Gardenvine that you recommended years ago. I am 190 lbs with lower back pain side sleeper sometimes stomach, my wife is 120 lbs and sleeps darn near sitting up,(that is why we got the adjustable base) while I lower the head while sleeping. We put a 2" latex topper on the gardenvine, it has been a good mattress but neither of us find it amazingly comfortable. We were thinking 2 twin xl's and now is our chance to each get a bed we find excited to get into each night! Back in the day we got this you really like Sealy, sounds like their product changed and now you have other recommendations. What direction would you point us as we really value your expertise! Please help, keeping in mind we crank it way up to watch television! Thanks for everything!
Hi Jim,If you cut that topper in half, you'll still be able to use it on the new mattresses....each half will be a Twin-XLWhen the adjustable bed is cranked up, your weight shifts to the spot where the bed bends. That spot, now bearing most of your weight for whatever time you have it like that, will be the spot that show wear first. Use the latex for added comfort and longevity. You'll need a reasonably firm mattress to hold up to the new wear pattern. With weight not being a real issue, the Simmons Beatyrest World Class Annapolis Place in Luxury Firm is you best choice. Here's the link for that mattress....and to the latex foam mattress toppers.
